The Reading Promotion Week – 1 at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh continued with a creative and colourful Bookmark Making Competition on 2nd August 2025. The event was exclusively for Senior Category students (Classes 6 to 8), who showcased their artistic talent and love for books through their handmade bookmarks.

The competition was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, along with Mr. Pankaj Verma (TGT-Art), who encouraged students to express their imagination through colours and designs.

🌟 Event Highlights:

  • Students designed bookmarks inspired by their favourite characters, quotes, and themes from books.

  • Creativity, neatness, and relevance to reading were the key judging criteria.

  • The beautifully designed bookmarks are now displayed in the library to inspire fellow readers.

🎉 Memorable Moment:
One bookmark carried a hand-painted quote – “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies” – which instantly became a favourite among teachers and students alike.

🏆 Outcome:
The judges were impressed by the students’ innovation, use of colours, and meaningful designs. Top three winners were declared, and all participants were appreciated for their creative efforts.

Conclusion:
The Bookmark Making Competition added an artistic flavour to the Reading Promotion Week – 1. It not only promoted reading habits but also gave students a chance to express their imagination visually. The activity proved that creativity and reading go hand in hand.
