Celebration of Reading Promotion Week – 1

PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh successfully celebrated Reading Promotion Week – 1 from 1st to 7th August 2025 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students of Classes 3 to 8. The week was filled with exciting literary competitions that provided students a platform to express their creativity, imagination, and love for reading.
The celebration began on 1st August 2025 with the Story Telling Competition, where students narrated their favourite stories from books they had read. Their engaging narrations reflected not only their reading habits but also their confidence and expression.
On 2nd August 2025, a creative Bookmark Making Competition was organised for Classes 6–8. Students designed colourful and inspiring bookmarks based on their favourite characters and books.
The spirit of poetry came alive on 4th August 2025 with the Poem Recitation Competition, where participants recited beautiful poems in English and Hindi. The competition highlighted their love for literature and language.
On 5th August 2025, the Drawing Competition encouraged students to create imaginative artworks inspired by stories and characters from books. Their artistic skills truly brought stories to life on paper.
The Words Per Minute Competition, held on 6th August 2025, tested the students’ reading fluency and pronunciation. Participants confidently read passages within a given time, showcasing their reading speed and clarity.
The week concluded on 7th August 2025 with the Book Review Writing Competition, where students wrote insightful reviews of the books they had read during library periods. This activity reflected their analytical skills and deep engagement with books.
Throughout the week, a large number of students participated with zeal, making the celebration a grand success. The competitions not only enhanced their reading habits but also nurtured creativity, communication skills, and a lifelong love for books.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, along with dedicated teachers in charge of various activities. The collective efforts of students and teachers made Reading Promotion Week – 1 a memorable and enriching experience for everyone.
