 National Librarians' Day – Celebrating New Books, Readers and Creativity

National Librarians' Day was celebrated in the school library with a special programme dedicated to the joy of reading, discovery of new books, and creative expression. The programme provided students with an opportunity to explore the library's newly arrived collection, share their reading experiences, and express their creativity through art.

📚 Book Exhibition of New Arrivals

A special book exhibition featuring newly arrived books purchased from the National Book Trust (NBT) was organised in the library. The newly added titles were attractively displayed so that students could browse the collection, explore different subjects and genres, and discover books of their interest.

The exhibition created excitement among students as they got an opportunity to see and explore the latest additions to the library collection. Students were encouraged to handle the books, read their covers and introductions, and select books that appealed to their interests.

The exhibition also highlighted the continuous efforts of the library to enrich its collection with quality reading material for students.

⭐ Students Share Their Book Reviews

An interesting feature of the programme was the student book review activity. Students who explored the newly arrived books were invited to share their views and experiences about the books they had read.

Students spoke about the books they selected, their favourite parts, interesting characters, important ideas, and what they learnt from their reading. Sharing book reviews gave students an opportunity to express their opinions and recommendations before their peers.

The activity also encouraged students to become more thoughtful readers. Instead of simply finishing a book, they were encouraged to think about what they read, what they liked, what they learnt, and why they would recommend a particular book to another reader.

This made the new-book exhibition more interactive and student-centred.

🎨 Drawing Competition – Creativity Meets the Library

To add a creative dimension to the celebration, a Drawing Competition was also organised for the students. Participants expressed their imagination through drawings based on books, reading, libraries, nature, stories, and other creative themes.

The competition provided students with a platform to showcase their artistic skills while connecting creativity with the world of books and reading. Students participated enthusiastically and filled the library environment with colourful and imaginative expressions.

The National Librarians' Day programme successfully brought together books, readers, reviews, and creativity. The new-arrival book exhibition encouraged students to explore the enriched library collection, the book review activity gave them a voice as readers, and the drawing competition allowed them to express their imagination through art.
