the library continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing lifelong readers and confident writers. In line with the recent initiative of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), a collaborative effort with Azim Premji University, the school has embraced the vision of integrating reading and writing strategies across all subjects. This initiative aligns with the goals of NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023, emphasizing that language is not limited to language classrooms but is the foundation of learning in every discipline.

Handbook

The initiative encourages teachers to embed reading and writing activities within their regular classroom teaching rather than treating them as additional tasks. Students are provided opportunities to read independently, interpret different types of texts, organize their ideas, communicate effectively, and express themselves creatively. The library supports this vision by creating a language-rich environment where reading becomes a habit and writing becomes a meaningful way of learning.

Integration of Reading and Writing

A key feature of this approach is Content Integrated Language Learning (CILL), which promotes the development of language skills across subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Hindi, and English. Teachers use strategies like prediction from titles and pictures, guided questioning, vocabulary building, text annotation, graphic organizers, summarization, collaborative reading, and reflective writing to deepen conceptual understanding while strengthening language proficiency.

The library actively supports these classroom practices by encouraging activities such as:

• Creative Writing, Caption Writing, and Reflection Journals

The exemplar activities suggested in the handbook—such as Granny's Batwa, Jigsaw Reading, and Picture Reading—demonstrate how simple classroom experiences can effectively develop communication, creativity, and comprehension skills.
