The Reading Promotion Week – 1 at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh continued with a burst of creativity through the Drawing Competition held on 5th August 2025. Students from Classes 3–8 participated with great enthusiasm, expressing their imagination and love for stories through colours and art.



The competition was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, along with Ms. Anjali (PRT), who motivated students to showcase their artistic flair. The event was conducted separately for Junior (Classes 3–5) and Senior (Classes 6–8) categories.




🌟 Event Highlights:
  • Theme: “Favourite Stories and Characters from Books”

  • Students illustrated scenes, heroes, and characters inspired by their reading.

  • Judging was based on originality, creativity, neatness, and relevance to the theme.

  • Drawings were displayed in the library, turning it into a mini art gallery.


🎉 Memorable Moment:
One senior student sketched an elaborate scene from a classic children’s tale, and the detailing left both judges and peers amazed.

🏆 Outcome:
The judges admired the creativity and storytelling through art. The top three winners from each category were awarded, while all participants were appreciated for their imagination.

The Reading Promotion Week – 2 at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh gained lyrical charm with the Poem Recitation Competition held on 9th October 2025. Students from Classes 3–8 participated with great enthusiasm, reciting poems in both English and Hindi.



The competition was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, along with Mr. Balabant Sahu (PRT) and Mr. G. Ram (TGT-Hindi). The event was conducted separately for Junior (Classes 3–5) and Senior (Classes 6–8) groups, ensuring every child got a chance to display their talent.




    🌟 Event Highlights:

    • Students presented a wide variety of poems on themes like nature, patriotism, friendship, and values.

    • They were judged on pronunciation, clarity, expression, voice modulation, and confidence.

    • The audience enjoyed every recitation, appreciating the effort and emotions of each participant.

A student from the junior group recited a patriotic poem with such passion that the hall resonated with applause and cheers, creating a truly emotional moment.

The Reading Promotion Week – 2 at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh continued with a creative and colourful Bookmark Making Competition on 8th October 2025. The event was exclusively for Senior Category students (Classes 6 to 8), who showcased their artistic talent and love for books through their handmade bookmarks.





The competition was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, along with Mr. Pankaj Verma (TGT-Art), who encouraged students to express their imagination through colours and designs.



🌟 Event Highlights:

  • Students designed bookmarks inspired by their favourite characters, quotes, and themes from books.

  • Creativity, neatness, and relevance to reading were the key judging criteria.

  • The beautifully designed bookmarks are now displayed in the library to inspire fellow readers.



🎉 Memorable Moment:
One bookmark carried a hand-painted quote – “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies” – which instantly became a favourite among teachers and students alike.

The judges were impressed by the students’ innovation, use of colours, and meaningful designs. Top three winners were declared, and all participants were appreciated for their creative efforts.

The competition was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, along with Ms. Bijay Laxmi Parida (TGT-Sanskrit) and Mr. Jogeshwar Meher (PRT). The event was conducted group-wise for Classes 3–5 and 6–8, giving equal opportunities to showcase talent.



🌟 Event Highlights:

  • Students confidently narrated tales filled with imagination, humour, and life lessons.

  • Narrations reflected their reading habits, creativity, and presentation skills.

  • Many participants used expressions, gestures, and voice modulation to bring their stories alive.

  • The audience was deeply engaged, listening with curiosity and excitement.

One student narrated a folk tale with such enthusiasm that it felt like watching a live play. The expressions and energy left everyone applauding loudly.

ORIENTATION SESSION ON NIRF 2025

  📘 LIBRARY BLOG: ORIENTATION SESSION ON NIRF 2025 – EMPOWERING STUDENTS TO MAKE INFORMED COLLEGE CHOICES

The Library of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sundargarh organized an informative session for Classes XI and XII on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, released by the Government of India. The session aimed to guide senior students in making well-informed decisions while selecting colleges and streams after Class XII.


The session was conducted by the Librarian, who explained the purpose and importance of NIRF through an engaging PowerPoint Presentation and live demonstration using the official government website – www.nirfindia.org. Students learned how NIRF ranks Indian institutions based on parameters like Teaching–Learning Resources, Research, Graduation Outcomes, Inclusivity, and Perception.




Through real-time browsing of the NIRF portal, students explored how to compare colleges by category, such as Engineering, Management, Law, Medicine, and overall university ranking. The presentation also highlighted the new features of NIRF 2025, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) category and the revised evaluation system ensuring greater transparency.



The importance of NIRF for students was emphasized, showing how it helps them:

  • Make data-driven college choices based on authentic government rankings.

  • Understand institutional strengths in teaching, research, and placements.

  • Align their career interests and academic goals with the right college.

Students actively participated, asked questions about their preferred fields, and expressed appreciation for this valuable guidance session. The session concluded with the message that “Informed decisions lead to empowered futures.”


The library continues to play a vital role in educating students beyond books, fostering awareness about higher education opportunities and government initiatives like NIRF 2025.

HINDI BOOK EXHIBITION

📚 HINDI BOOK EXHIBITION ON THE OCCASION OF HINDI PAKHWADA 


On the occasion of Hindi Pakhwada, a Hindi Book Exhibition was organized in the PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh Library to promote love and respect for the Hindi language among students. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal, Shri Navneet Amkhare, who cut the ceremonial ribbon and encouraged the students to read more Hindi literature.


A wide collection of Hindi story books, novels, poetry collections, biographies, and magazines were displayed for the students. The exhibition aimed to highlight the richness of Hindi literature and to develop the reading habits of students.




Students enthusiastically visited the exhibition, explored the books, and shared their interest in reading Hindi authors. The librarian also guided the students about famous Hindi writers and their works




The event successfully inspired students to read and appreciate Hindi literature, making Hindi Pakhwada a memorable celebration in the library.

World Ozone Day

World Ozone Day


The PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sundargarh celebrated World Ozone Day with great enthusiasm and awareness-building activities in the school library. The event aimed to educate students about the importance of the ozone layer and the need to protect it for a sustainable future.



The session began with an informative PowerPoint presentation by Mr. Sunil Kumar Prasad, Librarian, highlighting the theme of World Ozone Day, the significance of the ozone layer, causes of its depletion, and the collective global efforts taken to heal it. The presentation included engaging visuals, short video clips, and facts that captured the interest of students from various classes.







Following the presentation, an interactive quiz session was organized to test students’ understanding of the topic. The quiz encouraged active participation, and students eagerly answered questions related to the ozone layer, climate change, and environmental conservation. It turned out to be both fun and educational.



Towards the end, a few students shared their views and reflections on what they learned during the session. They expressed their determination to adopt eco-friendly habits and spread awareness about protecting the environment.




The event successfully combined learning and interaction, inspiring students to become responsible global citizens dedicated to preserving our planet’s natural shield — the ozone layer.
