 Subject: Piloting NCERT’s Interactive Books with teachers and students.

Dear Sir/Ma’am, The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes interactive, activity-based and experiential learning (para 23.6, page 57). 

In alignment with NEP-2020 and the ongoing efforts to enhance learner experience on DIKSHA, CIET-NCERT has developed Interactive textbooks (called KATBOOKs) for grades 1, 6, and 12 on a trial basis in collaboration with UEducate Global Pvt. Ltd. 

In order to find out the usefulness of these books, it has been decided to pilot with the students and teachers. You are therefore requested to kindly facilitate piloting of the below listed books by the students and teachers in your State/UT by circulating the enclosed information to all the schools and teachers. To access the interactive books,

on how to use the books. CIET-NCERT will also conduct a virtual orientation through live telecast on PM eVidya DTH TV channels no. 1, 6, 12 as well as through “NCERT Official” YouTube Channe (https://www.youtube.com/@NCERTOFFICIAL) n 17 October 2025 from 03:00- 04:00 pm. 

 The platform will be available for 1 month for users to access and give feedback. After using the books, both students and teachers are required to give their feedback through a google form, whose link is given below:

 📚Prize Distribution Ceremony of Reading Promotion Week–2


The Prize Distribution Ceremony of Reading Promotion Week–2 was held with great enthusiasm during the morning assembly at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sundargarh. The event marked the culmination of a week-long celebration dedicated to cultivating reading habits and a love for books among students.



Throughout the week, a series of engaging activities such as  storytelling, bookmark making, poem recitation, drawing, words per minute and book reviews were organized in the library. Students from various classes actively participated, showcasing their creativity, understanding, and enthusiasm for reading.






During the morning assembly, the Principal, Shri Navneet Amkhare, felicitated the winners with  prizes, encouraging them to continue their reading journey. 





The ceremony was filled with applause and joy as the names of the winners were announced. The proud smiles on students’ faces reflected their hard work and love for reading.





The Reading Promotion Week–2 Prize Distribution was not merely an end to a week of activities but a beautiful reminder that “Readers are Leaders.” The celebration reinforced the idea that reading opens the doors to endless learning and imagination, making it an unforgettable event for everyone present.

 🌸 Sapnon ki Udaan: Celebrating India’s Glorious Past and Heritage


The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) continues to inspire creativity and learning through its much-loved digital magazine Sapnon ki Udaan. The June 2025 issue (Issue 5) takes readers on a fascinating journey into “The Glorious Past and Heritage of India”, highlighting the wonders that have shaped our civilisation through centuries.


This issue invites young readers to explore the theme “Archaeology and Historical Sites of India: Different Dimensions”.  Veer Gatha 5.0 Celebration

The Library of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh proudly organized the Veer Gatha Project 5.0, an inspiring initiative under the Gallantry Awards Portal of the Government of India, aimed at nurturing the spirit of patriotism and courage among students from Classes III to XII.









Under this event, a series of engaging and creative competitions were held in the library, including Poem Recitation, Poem Writing, Drawing Competition, Passage Writing, and Essay Writing. Each activity encouraged students to explore the extraordinary tales of bravery and sacrifice made by the gallantry award winners of our nation.








Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their creativity and heartfelt emotions while learning about the real-life heroes who displayed unparalleled courage and dedication to the nation. The library became a hub of inspiration, where stories of bravery were transformed into art, poetry, and prose.



Through Veer Gatha 5.0, the government envisions instilling in students a deep sense of national pride, respect for our armed forces, moral values, and civic responsibility. The event motivated students to reflect on qualities such as courage, integrity, duty, and selflessness—values essential for shaping responsible citizens of tomorrow.

The Reading Promotion Week – 2 at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh concluded with an insightful Book Review Writing Competition on 14th August 2025. The competition was exclusively for the Senior Category (Classes 6–8), where students showcased their analytical and writing skills by reviewing books they had read during library periods.

The competition was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, along with Mr. Surya Kanta (Coach), who encouraged students to reflect deeply on the books they chose.



🌟 Event Highlights:

  • Students wrote reviews highlighting the title, author, summary, favourite character/quote, and personal opinion.

  • Emphasis was placed on clarity, originality, and depth of thought rather than length.

  • Many participants linked the messages of their books to real-life lessons and values.

  • The best reviews were selected for library display to guide peers in choosing their next reads.


🎉 Memorable Moment:
One student wrote a heartfelt review of a biography, ending with the line – “This book didn’t just tell a story, it changed how I see my own goals.” It received special appreciation from the judges.


🏆 Outcome:
The judges praised the effort and maturity displayed in the reviews. The top three winners were selected, and all participants were acknowledged for their thoughtful contributions.


✨ Conclusion:
The Book Review Writing Competition was the perfect finale to the Reading Promotion Week – 2. It encouraged students to not just read books but to reflect, analyse, and share their insights with others. The event strengthened the culture of meaningful reading in the school.

The Reading Promotion Week – 2 at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh witnessed an engaging Words Per Minute (WPM) Reading Competition on 13th August 2025. Students from Classes 3 to 8 actively participated to test their reading fluency, accuracy, and speed.

The competition was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, along with Mr. Chhabila Pradhan (PRT). It was conducted separately for Junior (Classes 3–5) and Senior (Classes 6–8) categories.









🌟 Event Highlights:
  • Students were given short reading passages suited to their level.

  • Each participant was timed for one minute while reading aloud.

  • Judges measured speed (words per minute), accuracy, pronunciation, and expression.

  • The activity motivated students to focus on both clarity and pace in their reading.







🎉 Memorable Moment:
One junior student read her passage so clearly and confidently that the audience clapped spontaneously—even before the timer ended!








🏆 Outcome:
The judges were impressed by the fluency and improvement shown by many students. The top three winners from each category were selected, while all participants received valuable feedback on how to become better readers.







✨ Conclusion:
The Words Per Minute Reading Competition added a fun yet meaningful dimension to the Reading Promotion Week – 2. It not only encouraged healthy competition but also helped students discover ways to improve their reading skills, speed, and confidence.
