ORIENTATION SESSION ON NIRF 2025

  📘 LIBRARY BLOG: ORIENTATION SESSION ON NIRF 2025 – EMPOWERING STUDENTS TO MAKE INFORMED COLLEGE CHOICES

The Library of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sundargarh organized an informative session for Classes XI and XII on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, released by the Government of India. The session aimed to guide senior students in making well-informed decisions while selecting colleges and streams after Class XII.


The session was conducted by the Librarian, who explained the purpose and importance of NIRF through an engaging PowerPoint Presentation and live demonstration using the official government website – www.nirfindia.org. Students learned how NIRF ranks Indian institutions based on parameters like Teaching–Learning Resources, Research, Graduation Outcomes, Inclusivity, and Perception.




Through real-time browsing of the NIRF portal, students explored how to compare colleges by category, such as Engineering, Management, Law, Medicine, and overall university ranking. The presentation also highlighted the new features of NIRF 2025, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) category and the revised evaluation system ensuring greater transparency.



The importance of NIRF for students was emphasized, showing how it helps them:

  • Make data-driven college choices based on authentic government rankings.

  • Understand institutional strengths in teaching, research, and placements.

  • Align their career interests and academic goals with the right college.

Students actively participated, asked questions about their preferred fields, and expressed appreciation for this valuable guidance session. The session concluded with the message that “Informed decisions lead to empowered futures.”


The library continues to play a vital role in educating students beyond books, fostering awareness about higher education opportunities and government initiatives like NIRF 2025.

HINDI BOOK EXHIBITION

📚 HINDI BOOK EXHIBITION ON THE OCCASION OF HINDI PAKHWADA 


On the occasion of Hindi Pakhwada, a Hindi Book Exhibition was organized in the PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh Library to promote love and respect for the Hindi language among students. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal, Shri Navneet Amkhare, who cut the ceremonial ribbon and encouraged the students to read more Hindi literature.


A wide collection of Hindi story books, novels, poetry collections, biographies, and magazines were displayed for the students. The exhibition aimed to highlight the richness of Hindi literature and to develop the reading habits of students.




Students enthusiastically visited the exhibition, explored the books, and shared their interest in reading Hindi authors. The librarian also guided the students about famous Hindi writers and their works




The event successfully inspired students to read and appreciate Hindi literature, making Hindi Pakhwada a memorable celebration in the library.

World Ozone Day

World Ozone Day


The PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sundargarh celebrated World Ozone Day with great enthusiasm and awareness-building activities in the school library. The event aimed to educate students about the importance of the ozone layer and the need to protect it for a sustainable future.



The session began with an informative PowerPoint presentation by Mr. Sunil Kumar Prasad, Librarian, highlighting the theme of World Ozone Day, the significance of the ozone layer, causes of its depletion, and the collective global efforts taken to heal it. The presentation included engaging visuals, short video clips, and facts that captured the interest of students from various classes.







Following the presentation, an interactive quiz session was organized to test students’ understanding of the topic. The quiz encouraged active participation, and students eagerly answered questions related to the ozone layer, climate change, and environmental conservation. It turned out to be both fun and educational.



Towards the end, a few students shared their views and reflections on what they learned during the session. They expressed their determination to adopt eco-friendly habits and spread awareness about protecting the environment.




The event successfully combined learning and interaction, inspiring students to become responsible global citizens dedicated to preserving our planet’s natural shield — the ozone layer.

Morning Assembly Book Review

 The Library of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh introduced an inspiring activity during the morning assembly—a Book Review Presentation by Students. The initiative aimed to promote reading habits and encourage students to share their learning and reflections from different books.


Every week, selected students from various classes presented short and thoughtful reviews of books they had recently read from the school library. They spoke about the title, author, storyline, main characters, and the message or moral of the book. The reviews covered a wide range of genres including fiction, biographies, science, and motivational literature.
.


The activity not only enhanced students’ reading and speaking skills but also helped their peers discover new and interesting books to read. The Librarian, along with teachers, guided the students in preparing their reviews and appreciated their efforts during the assembly.

The Book Review in the Morning Assembly has become a regular and much-awaited feature, fostering a strong reading culture and motivating everyone to explore the magical world of books.

The Library of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh organized an informative and interactive session on “How to Write a Book Review” for students. The objective of the session was to help young readers develop the skill of expressing their opinions about books in a structured and meaningful way.

The session was conducted by the Librarian, who explained the key components of a good book review — including the title, author, publisher, summary of the plot, main characters, and the reader’s personal opinion. He highlighted the importance of writing in one’s own words and being honest while sharing views about the book.


Students learned how to evaluate a book based on its theme, writing style, and the message it conveys. Practical examples from popular children’s and young adult books were discussed to make the session more engaging.


A hands-on activity followed, where students were asked to select a book from the library and draft a short review using the provided Book Review Format. The participants showed great enthusiasm and creativity in presenting their thoughts.



The session concluded with an encouraging message from the Librarian, reminding students that book reviewing is not just about writing—it’s about understanding, connecting, and sharing the joy of reading. The event truly strengthened the reading culture of the school.

NATIONAL SPACE DAY

 NATIONAL SPACE DAY


PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh celebrated National Space Day with great enthusiasm and curiosity among the students. The event aimed to ignite interest in space science and honor India’s remarkable achievements in space exploration.
 
The programme began with an inspiring speech by Anubhav Agarwal, who highlighted India’s journey from its first satellite Aryabhata to the success of Chandrayaan and Aditya missions. His words motivated students to dream big and contribute to the nation’s progress in science and technology.





This was followed by an informative PowerPoint presentation by Sunil Sir (Librarian), which showcased interesting facts, images, and milestones of ISRO. The presentation also featured educational videos that helped students visualize India’s space missions and understand their importance in everyday life.


A quiz session was conducted to test the students’ knowledge about planets, satellites, and Indian space scientists. The participants answered enthusiastically, making the session lively and engaging.


To encourage creativity, a drawing activity on the theme “Our Space Mission” was organized, where students expressed their imagination and admiration for space through art. The colourful drawings reflected their curiosity and love for the mysteries of the universe.



The celebration concluded with words of appreciation from the Principal, who encouraged students to explore science with curiosity and innovation. The day was a perfect blend of learning, creativity, and inspiration, truly celebrating India’s strides in space research.

The School Library of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh is delighted to announce the celebration of Reading Promotion Week – 2 from 7th October to 15th October 2025. This week aims to encourage the joy of reading, creativity, and expression among our students through a series of exciting competitions and activities.



Schedule of Activities

  • 07.10.2025 – Storytelling Competition
    Students of Classes 3–8 will narrate their favourite stories from books they have read.

  • 08.10.2025 – Bookmark Making Competition
    Students of Classes 6–8 will design unique bookmarks inspired by their favourite characters or books.

  • 09.10.2025 – Poem Recitation Competition
    Students of Classes 3–8 will recite poems in English or Hindi.

  • 10.10.2025 – Drawing Competition
    Students of Classes 3–8 will create artworks inspired by their favourite stories and characters.

  • 13.10.2025 – Words Per Minute Competition
    Students of Classes 3–8 will read aloud for one minute with correct pronunciation and fluency.

  • 15.10.2025 – Book Review Writing Competition
    Students of Classes 6–8 will write reviews of books they have read during library periods.

General Guidelines

  • All activities for the Primary Wing (Classes 3–5) will be organised by the respective in-charges and reported to the Overall In-charge (Librarian).

  • Activities for the Secondary Wing (Classes 6–8) will be conducted in the library during the 3rd and 4th periods.

  • The preferred languages are English and Hindi.

  • Three winners will be selected from each activity and group.

This special week is an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity, reading skills, and love for books. Let’s come together to make Reading Promotion Week – 1 a grand success!
