 **Library Blog: National Library Week 2025

PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh**

National Library Week 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and literary spirit at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh from 14th to 20th November 2025. The week-long celebration, organised under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Prasad, Librarian, aimed at motivating students to read more, think creatively, and participate actively in literary and artistic activities.

Throughout the week, students engaged in multiple competitions designed to enhance reading habits, imagination, vocabulary, and artistic expression.

✨ Day-Wise Highlights

📌 1. Inspiring Young Readers – Speech on Reading (14 November 2025)

Students delivered short speeches expressing why reading is important in their lives. They shared personal experiences, favourite books, and how reading shapes thoughts and imagination. The activity helped build confidence, communication skills, and a deeper connection with books.


📌 2. Drawing Competition (15 November 2025)

This activity encouraged students to visually represent stories, characters, and scenes they love. Using colours and creativity, they transformed their imagination into beautiful artwork inspired by books. It helped develop artistic thinking and appreciation for literature.

📌 3. Books & Authors Quiz Competition (17 November 2025)

A fun and engaging quiz where students answered questions related to famous books, authors, genres, and literary facts. The competition promoted quick thinking, teamwork and awareness of the world of literature.

📌 4. Words Per Minute (WPM) Reading Competition (18 November 2025)

Students read a given passage aloud for one minute, focusing on correct pronunciation, fluency, and speed. The activity helped improve reading accuracy, confidence, and comprehension skills while making reading a joyful challenge.

📌 5. Book Jacket Making Competition (19 November 2025)

Students showcased their creativity by designing attractive book jackets, complete with title, illustrations, and summary. This encouraged artistic expression and helped students understand how book covers play a key role in attracting readers.

📌 6. Book Review Writing Competition (20 November 2025)

Students wrote thoughtful reviews of stories they had read during library periods. They described the plot, characters, message, and their personal opinion. The activity enhanced critical thinking, writing skills, and deeper engagement with books.

📚 Conclusion

National Library Week 2025 at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh was a grand success, reflecting the school’s commitment to promoting a strong reading culture. The active participation of students and support of the teachers truly made the celebration memorable.
The week-long activities not only nurtured creativity and curiosity but also strengthened the bond between students and books—ensuring that the love for reading continues to grow.

 Subject: Piloting NCERT’s Interactive Books with teachers and students.

Dear Sir/Ma’am, The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes interactive, activity-based and experiential learning (para 23.6, page 57). 

In alignment with NEP-2020 and the ongoing efforts to enhance learner experience on DIKSHA, CIET-NCERT has developed Interactive textbooks (called KATBOOKs) for grades 1, 6, and 12 on a trial basis in collaboration with UEducate Global Pvt. Ltd. 

In order to find out the usefulness of these books, it has been decided to pilot with the students and teachers. You are therefore requested to kindly facilitate piloting of the below listed books by the students and teachers in your State/UT by circulating the enclosed information to all the schools and teachers. To access the interactive books,

 The platform will be available for 1 month for users to access and give feedback. After using the books, both students and teachers are required to give their feedback through a google form, whose link is given below:

 📚Prize Distribution Ceremony of Reading Promotion Week–2


The Prize Distribution Ceremony of Reading Promotion Week–2 was held with great enthusiasm during the morning assembly at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sundargarh. The event marked the culmination of a week-long celebration dedicated to cultivating reading habits and a love for books among students.



Throughout the week, a series of engaging activities such as  storytelling, bookmark making, poem recitation, drawing, words per minute and book reviews were organized in the library. Students from various classes actively participated, showcasing their creativity, understanding, and enthusiasm for reading.






During the morning assembly, the Principal, Shri Navneet Amkhare, felicitated the winners with  prizes, encouraging them to continue their reading journey. 





The ceremony was filled with applause and joy as the names of the winners were announced. The proud smiles on students’ faces reflected their hard work and love for reading.





The Reading Promotion Week–2 Prize Distribution was not merely an end to a week of activities but a beautiful reminder that “Readers are Leaders.” The celebration reinforced the idea that reading opens the doors to endless learning and imagination, making it an unforgettable event for everyone present.

 🌸 Sapnon ki Udaan: Celebrating India’s Glorious Past and Heritage


The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) continues to inspire creativity and learning through its much-loved digital magazine Sapnon ki Udaan.
